Tulum's electronic season is built around winter. The biggest stretch usually lands from late December into January, when international travelers, labels, promoters and DJs converge around jungle venues and destination events.

The two names most people start with are Zamna and Day Zero. They are different, but together they explain why Tulum became a global electronic music stop.

Zamna is the hub

Zamna started in Tulum and has grown into an international event brand, but its home base still carries the strongest identity. The format is less like one festival weekend and more like a season of individual events, usually built around melodic house, Afro house, organic house, techno and big international showcases.

For fans, that means the right Tulum trip is usually built around specific nights rather than one single lineup poster.

Day Zero is the ritual set piece

Day Zero is the more mythic event. It is tied closely to Damian Lazarus and the idea of the jungle as part of the show, not just the backdrop. The 2026 edition took place on January 10, while the next Tulum edition is already pointing to January 9, 2027.

That matters because Tulum events sell a feeling as much as a lineup. Sunrise sets, natural settings and longer musical arcs are part of the draw.

What to know before planning

Tulum is not a casual festival city. Distances, transport, weather, lodging and late set times can make the trip expensive and tiring if you wing it.

The cleanest plan is to choose two or three priority events, stay realistic about travel time and book only through official channels. The best Tulum experience is planned enough to be safe, but loose enough to let the night breathe.
